Many individuals today believe they need a spouse to feel complete. Unfortunately, I was one of them, spending my early years trying to meet others’ expectations. I wanted to prove that I could be in a relationship and worthy of the label ‘in a relationship.’ It turned into quite a mess. I had no idea what I was doing, and eventually, I became miserable. I think a part of it has to do with my exposure as a child. People would talk about finding their other half or wanting someone to “complete” them. I honestly thought that having a spouse would actually “complete” me. So, I adapted to that same mindset for a while and searched for my “other half.”
